Kobe City is the prefectural office's location in Hyogo Prefecture.
It is also the sixth most populous city in Japan.
In the center of Kobe city there is the Rokko Mountain Range.
On the south side of the Rokko Mountain Range (the sea side) there are modern urban areas, and on the north side hot spring towns and rural areas are spreading.

 

Kobe is an old port city, and still one of the most famous port city in Japan.
From the 19th century, the port of Kobe was improved for foreign trade.
And Westerners lived in, and many Western cultures were brought in.
For this reason, in Kobe you can enjoy the atmosphere of Japanese culture and Western culture.

 

Over 5000 people died at the 1995 Hanshin Awaji earthquake.
Many buildings and transportation facilities were destroyed, but now it is restored and it has become a beautiful cityscape.

 

From Kobe (Sannomiya) to Osaka it is less than 30 minutes by train, and can go to Himeji in about 40 minutes.
